23-year-old Orlando man dies in crash with Mack truck

Truck driver was trying to make U-turn on Colonial Drive

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A 23-year-old Orlando man was killed late Monday in a crash with a tractor-trailer that was trying to make a U-turn, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The fatal crash happened around 10:10 p.m. on Colonial Drive near Sherman Street in Orange County.

According to troopers, the victim, whose name has not been released, was driving a 2014 four-door Chrysler eastbound on Colonial and crashed into the rear of a Mack truck that was trying to back up after failing to complete a U-turn.

The driver of the Chrysler died at the scene, the FHP said.

The driver of the truck, Ronald Cray, 68, of St. Cloud, and his passenger were not injured.

The crash remains under investigation, and charges are pending.
