Police: 21-year-old Melbourne man starts shooting during beachside bar fight

Mikhael Walker held in lieu of $62,000 bail at Brevard County Jail

INDIALANTIC, Fla. – A 21-year-old Melbourne man was in custody Tuesday after police said he fired a gun at a beachside bar, threatened employees, then struck a parked car as he tried to flee the scene following a fight
Mikhael Walker made his first appearance Tuesday before a Brevard County judge.

"Mr. Walker, I've read the police report in your case," Judge David Koenig said, addressing the 21-year-old.  "I find probable cause for the charges listed."

Those charges include aggravated assault with a firearm, shooting a firearm in public, and leaving the scene of two accidents with damage.

"His conduct in the parking lot full of people, he got a weapon, returned, shot the weapon with a large crowd outside," said Phil Williams, the state attorney and a former Brevard sheriff.

Investigators say it happened at 12:45 a.m. at the Monkey Bar on A1A in Indialantic.

The news shocked two regulars of the bar who spoke with News 6.

Cindey Race and Ritchie Sauter say the bar is typically a safe place to have a drink.

"That's crazy.  I can't even believe it, not our place," Race said.

"Crazy,; that's not normal," Sauter said.

Police say Walker was arrested on the Melbourne Causeway after driving away from the bar.

They say while at the bar he shot the gun once and threatened an employee trying to call 911.

Police say those threats were made as Walker's car drifted into one vehicle in the parking lot, and then he backed up into another.

Police say no one was injured.

"There's just no justification whatsoever for this kind of conduct," Williams said.

Adding up the charges against Walker, the judge set his bail at $62,000.

Walker does not meet the financial requirements to be represented by a public defender.

That means the 21-year-old will have to hire a lawyer or represent himself.
