Officials said no one lives in the home, but others seeking shelter have been run off from the house in the past.

The cause of the fire is not known.

Sanford fire officials said the rescue mission's operations were "slightly affected" by the blaze, but the facility was not damaged.

According to the mission's website, the facility serves disadvantaged people throughout Central Florida by providing resources such as food, shelter, clothing, and counseling to help prevent homelessness.

Fire officials initially told Local 6 that the fire started inside the rescue mission.
