Fire burns Vic's Embers Supper Club in Leesburg

No one injured in blaze

LEESBURG, Fla. – A fire burned a popular Lake County restaurant late Thursday night.

The blaze broke out around 11 p.m. at Vic's Embers Supper Club on U.S. Highway 441 near the Leesburg Municipal Airport.

No one was inside the restaurant at the time of the fire, which started about 45 minutes after it was closed for the day.

Lake County and Leesburg firefighters said flames were shooting through the roof of the restaurant when they arrived.

It appears that the fire started in the kitchen or the attic above the kitchen, officials said.

The building was not completely destroyed in the blaze, but it's not yet known if the restaurant will reopen.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

No one was injured in the blaze.
