Firefighters help disabled man mow lawn

Crew stops to help while returning from call

FARGO, North Dakota – Most of the time firefighters spend their time fighting fires and helping accident patients. But in North Dakota, one crew took the time to do a little yard work.

Three firefighters from Fargo were heading back from a call when they noticed David Shove, 35 trying to mow his lawn.

Shove is confined to a wheelchair and told firefighters it normally takes him more than an hour to complete the job.

"When we can have contact with the public or the taxpayers during the day, it is something extra we can do, and it makes us feel good, " Capt. Eric Eisenlohr said.

A neighbor snapped a photo of the firefighters lending a helping hand and posted it online. It has since been shared more than 2,500 times.
