Florida Hospital misplaces boxes of patient records

ORLANDO, Fla. – During a transfer from one Florida Hospital storage area to another staff discovered some patient information had been misplaced, the hospital said in a news release Friday.

Boxes containing patient information were misplaces during a move from one storage vendor to another vender. On Aug. 17, Florida Hospital discovered the boxes were missing.

Both vendors are in the process of searching for the records.

Hospital officials said they are notifying patients “out of an abundance of caution” and have “no evidence that patient information has been misused.”

Impacted patients could be provided with one year of identity theft protection, according to the release.
