DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The State Attorney's Office on Thursday cleared the officers involved in a fatal shooting at a Volusia County tanning salon in May.

28-year-old Cheyene Pinkney, was shot and killed by authorities outside the Hot Tans on Beville Road in South Daytona after sexually assaulting a woman and attempting to rob the salon.
The State Attorney's Office investigated the "police use of force" involving South Daytona police officer Michael Charla and Daytona Beach police officer Kera Cantrell and found that "no further action is warranted by this office."
The two officers were placed on administrative leave following the May 6 shooting.
Authorities also released on Thursday the surveillance video from the salon used as evidence in the Florida Department of Law Enforcement investigation.
"He runs out the back with what looks like a real gun but it was an Airsoft pistol with the orange tip broken off," said Lt. Daniel Dietrich with South Daytona police. "The two officers are sitting against the wall, tell him to drop his firearm."
Police said before the robbery, Pinkney was asked to leave a massage business next door to Hot Tans after the owner said Pinkney "creeped her out" as he asked for a massage.
Police said the robbery was thwarted after the woman inside the tanning salon pressed a silent alarm. When Pinkney spotted officers, he ran out of the back door and came into contact with a South Daytona police officer and a Daytona Beach police officer, officials said.
"If someone is going to point a gun, real or not, our officers are going to have to shoot to protect themselves," Dietrich said.
The officers fired at Pinkney, and he was taken to Halifax Hospital. Pinkney died at the hospital. No officers were injured, police said.
