Gunshots fired into 3 Orlando homes

Police investigate shooting on Washington Street

ORLANDO, Fla. – Gunshots were fired into three Orlando condominiums early Monday, but no one was injured, police said.

The shooting was reported at 3:12 a.m. at 606 W. Washington St.

Orlando police said the shooter fired several shots from a vehicle, and bullets flew into three units, two of which were occupied.

The bullets lodged in the walls of the homes, but no injuries were reported, police said.

One resident told News 6 that she easily could have been struck by the bullets.

"I could have been hit because I was upstairs," the woman said. "Good thing I was (lying) down and not standing up."

There's no description of the shooter or the car from which the shots were fired.

"They say somebody was driving by in a car," the woman said. "I hope they catch him. "It could have been anybody. Somebody could have gotten shot and killed."

Later in the day, Orlando City Commissioner Regina Hill, who grew up in Parramore, came by to calm the families' fears.

"Parramore is a safe place that we, as far as law enforcement and myself as commissioner, do care about the safety," Commissioner Hill said.

"Unfortunately, we have folks that live carelessly and do careless things in the city, throughout the state and the nation, but they don't have to fear that Parramore isn't a safe place to live," Hill said.

She says it's going to take a community coming together to help solve not only this crime, but others.

"I will be resilient and the community will be resilient," Hill said. "Of course, we didn't get here overnight and we are not going to get out of this overnight, but as long as we continue to engage the community to be there constantly for the community and find creative ways to solve these acts of violence and also I think that the community has a voice and the community to know they are not standing alone."
