Gas prices hit 13-year low

Price drop may be coming to end, AAA says

ORLANDO, Fla. – Independence Day brought good fortune at the gas pump.

According to AAA, prices were the lowest in over a decade as an estimated 37.5 million Americans hit the road for the holiday.

Although the national average of $2.23 per gallon was the lowest for the holiday in 12 years, gas prices in the Southeast were the lowest in 13 years.

Prices in the Sunshine State averaged $2.15 a gallon on July 4, 9 cents less than 2016.

AAA also reports that the skidding trend may come to an end, with a six-week demand period approaching.

Prices may level off and some markets may see a jump.
