INDIAN RIVER, Fla. – Indian River County Sheriff's deputies and a 16-year-old Sheriff's Explorer rescued two adults and a child from a vehicle submerged in a retention pond on Saturday evening.
The crash was reported across the street from the Indian River County Sheriff's Office, which was the coldest evening of the year so far, according to a release.

Indian River County Sheriff's Explorer Jacob Ursin, 16, jumped into the pond to save a 2-year-old girl.
Deputies Michael Dilks and Jacob Curby swam out to the other two occupants, a man and a woman who couldn't swim, according to the Indian River County Sheriff's Office's release. Deputy Roger Jones then helped Indian County Fire Rescue rescue the adults.
Deputies said they were able to pull the woman to shore, but they struggled to save the man, who was drowning.
"The man was pulled from the water some time later. All three occupants of the vehicle were taken to the Indian River Medical Center, where the man remains in critical condition," according to the release.
Deputies will discuss the rescue at a Monday afternoon news conference.
