Postal worker calls Volusia deputies after delivering mail to nudist

Man could face misdemeanor charges, deputies say

DELTONA, Fla. – A female postal carrier called Volusia County sheriff's deputies after she said she encountered a naked man along her delivery route for a third time.

The postal worker told investigators she first saw the naked man standing in his screened porch attached to his home on Jan. 9.

According to an investigative report, she told deputies she saw him again on Jan. 17, only this time, she said, he was jumping up and down, waving at her.

Then she said it happened again on Wednesday.

She said she was delivering mail around noon when she saw the man wearing no clothes, standing in the open doorway of his screened porch.

VCSO investigators reported the man said he was a nudist and often walks around his home without clothes on, with his doors and windows open.

He told investigators his dog barks at the mail carrier, and when she sees him standing in his front porch, he's fetching his dog.

The postal worker told deputies she did not want to press charges, but they warned the man he could be arrested if he's caught naked there again.

News 6 found out the man could face misdemeanor charges of indecent exposure even if he is on his own property.

Florida law prohibits anyone from exposing themselves when other people can see them.
