Judge: City council acted legally in removal of former DeBary mayor

Judge also discounts 7 of 8 counts against Clint Johnson

DeBARY, Fla. – A Volusia County judge has ruled the DeBary City Council acted legally in its removal of former Mayor Clint Johnson.

The ruling was announced Monday. However, according to the News-Journal, the judge's ruling discounted seven of the eight counts against Johnson, saying they did not meet legal standard.

The city claims Johnson violated the city's charter by sending emails and text messages to employees making unauthorized demands.

Johnson says he plans to appeal the ruling.
