Judge sentences Kody Roach to 5 years in prison

Roach enters no contest plea to carrying concealed firearm

ORLANDO, Fla. – A man who was charged after a woman was shot and killed at a downtown Orlando bar was sentenced Wednesday to five years in prison, minus 621 days for time served.

A police officer fired several shots at Kody Roach during a confrontation in 2014 outside the Vixen Bar. Roach was later charged with murder because one of the bullets killed Maria Godinez, 22, inside the bar.

Roach entered a no contest plea last month to one count of carrying a concealed firearm. In exchange, the state dropped the murder charge.

Roach, who's release date will be in August 2020, also has to pay $528 in court costs, the judge said.
