KPMG training facility to bring jobs to Lake Nona

Groundbreaking ceremony held for 55-acre campus

ORLANDO, Fla. – Local leaders broke ground Monday on a new training facility that's bringing dozens of jobs to Central Florida.

The 55-acre campus is being built in Orange County by KPMG, one of the largest accounting firms in the world.

"This is about creating a place where everyone from KPMG will come to learn to develop, to collaborate with clients in innovative new ways," KPMG CEO Lynne Doughtie said.

At a groundbreaking ceremony, Doughtie said the training center will bring 80 jobs to the area and another 250 are expected to come to Florida by 2020.

When completed, the KPMG Learning, Development, and Innovation Facility will house meeting and learning spaces with flexibility to accommodate 1,000 attendees.  The facility will also feature 800 single occupancy rooms.

"They'll be bringing employees from all over the country, so this also gives us an opportunity to showcase what Orlando is," Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs said.

The training complex is being built in the 14-square-mile community of Lake Nona, which is considered one of the fastest growing areas in Florida.

Multiple dining options are also planned as part of the campus, as well as a fitness facility, biking paths and a softball field.

Construction on the training facility is expected to be completed in late 2019.
