Man dead after Sumter County crash, troopers say

FHP: Man had suffered medical emergency

SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. – A man is dead after a crash Saturday in Sumter County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at about 5:40 p.m. on County Road 475.

Troopers said a van was heading south on County Road 475, north of County Road 532W, when the driver suffered a medical emergency.

The van entered the east shoulder, corrected back across the roadway and traveled onto the west shoulder. Once on the west shoulder, troopers said the van collided with a series of trees adjacent to the highway before coming to stop.

The man was taken to a hospital in the area. Troopers said he was later pronounced dead.
