Toby Foster faces charges of burglary of a dwelling and petit theft

POLK COUNTY, Fla. – Deputies in Polk County said a man faces charges after he is accused of walking into an unlocked apartment and stealing the ingredients to make a screwdriver.

According to a news release, the man, later identified as Toby Foster, entered into an apartment on Nov. 23 around 5:30 a.m. and made off with a bottle of Svedka vodka and a bottle of Florida’s Natural Orange Juice.

The victim told deputies that the door used by the suspect is a secondary door that they don’t often use, and they had no idea it was unlocked.

“That’s right, this burglar stole the ingredients to make a screwdriver and left. Detectives say he tried to open the door of the apartment across the hallway, but it was locked, and he left,” the release read in part.

Deputies said that the total value of the theft was just over $35.

The sheriff’s office said on Dec. 18 that Foster turned himself in after the video of the theft was posted on social media.

He faces charges of burglary of a dwelling and petit theft.
