Gatorland, Orlando’s oldest attraction, to host 75th anniversary

ORLANDO, Fla. – Gatorland turning 75, and next month the “Alligator Capital of the World” is hosting a big Diamond Jubilee Celebration.

On May 18 and 19, Gatorland will host its fifth annual Gatorpalooza event. Included with park admission, the event will feature live music, specialty food and craft vendors, artisans, family fun, games, appearances by the Gatorland Vlog team, and, of course, all the alligators and other animals.

“We are excited beyond belief to be celebrating 75 amazing years in our Central Florida community. It is thrilling to share this historic event with all our friends and visitors who have supported us and watched us grow all these years,” exclaimed Mark McHugh, President and CEO of Gatorland. “Gatorpalooza is always so much fun, and combining our 75th celebration will create an unbelievable weekend.”

As part of the celebration, guests will also be able to see a few gators that have earned superstar status: Jawlene — the world-famous rescue alligator in her brand new home, and the world’s rarest alligator, Mystic the Leucristic, and her brother Mayhem.

Gatorland originally opened as a roadside attraction in 1949. Today the iconic park provides affordably priced family fun featuring thousands of alligators and crocodiles, a breeding marsh with an observation tower as well as other animal encounters.

Through April 30, Florida residents get half-off daily admissions at just $17.50, plus tax Children ages 3-12 pay $12.50, plus tax, and seniors 60 and over pay $17.50. Gatorland said all adults must provide proof of Florida residency when purchasing admission tickets at the gate.
