ORLANDO, Fla. – A News 6 viewer alerted us about a troubling situation near downtown Orlando, where dead fish are creating a significant odor along Lake Beauty, adjacent to Orlando Health just off Orange Avenue.
“I think there’s definitely some smell in the air,” Stephanie Clotts, a local resident, noted.
She discovered that the unpleasant scent was emanating from the dead fish scattered along the lake.
Many people frequent the area during their lunch breaks or after work, and might be unaware of the issue until the smell becomes noticeable.
“Suddenly there’s like a smell in the air. And when you look down, you can see what’s causing it,” Clotts remarked.
Another observer commented, “If you get close to that side where the construction guys are, you can smell the scent of dead fish.”

In response to the situation, News 6 reached out to Orlando Health for clarification. A representative stated, “We are aware of the situation and determining next steps.”
“This is kind of concerning, especially not knowing where the fish came from or if it was done by someone, if they were dumped, just not knowing what happened to them,” Clotts said.
News 6 will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates on the investigation into the cause of this problem.
