Man charged in clerk's death, linked to other robberies

Police arrest suspect linked to 8 robberies, murder

CASSELBERRY, Fla. – Casselberry police arrested Mack Jackson, 27, Monday night and charged him in connection to a string of robberies and the murder of a gas station clerk.

Police say several tips to Crimeline helped detectives track down Jackson, who confessed to robbing eight different businesses in Seminole County.

A hold was placed on Jackson so he couldn't bond out, said police.

Police say he admitted to shooting Omar Raheem during a robbery at the Texaco on S.R. 436 in Casselberry Sunday night. Raheem died after being shot in the chest.

"I'm very troubled by this," said Bobbie DePew, a regular at the Texaco on S.R. 436 in Casselberry.

Deputies say Jackson is responsible for eight robberies throughout Seminole County in the past two weeks, including the Game Stop and Texaco gas station in Casselberry, and the Alberton's and Winn Dixie Liquor stores, the Exotic Emporium in Longwood, Good Vibration yoga studio, GNC and Beeper World in Sanford.

"I'll never forget it. I walked right past the water fountains and he came from the curtain and came at me with his gun," Veronika Wettstein-Stewart, the owner of the Good Vibratons said Tuesday.

Wettstein-Stewart said the man robbed her business on June 16th. She said she's relieved he's off the streets.

Police also released surveillance video and 911 calls of the Winn Dixie liquor store robbery in Fern Park.

"They pulled a gun and handcuffed my clerk," the caller said.

Deputies said the clerk was but not injured.

Last week, in the same area, a robber hit the GameStop on South Highway 17-92.

Police say they matched finger prints found at the scene of the Game Stop robbery to Jackson.
