Maitland Jewish center evacuated following bomb threat

Threats also reported across state

MAITLAND, Fla. – A Jewish center in Maitland was evacuated just after 11 a.m. Monday following a bomb threat, the Maitland Police Department said.

Roth Jewish Community Center of Greater Orlando JCC,  at 851 N. Maitland Ave., was one of several Jewish centers across the state that had to be evacuated Monday.

Dave & Mary Alper Jewish Community Center in Miami; Miami Beach Jewish Community Center; and Jewish Community Alliance near Jacksonville were all evacuated around the same time following threats, according to media reports.

Threats were also received in Nashville, Maryland, South Carolina and London, but it wasn't immediately clear whether the threats were linked, authorities said Monday.

No explosives have been found.

Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives spokeswoman Amanda Hils said in an email that the agency was aware of the threats and its field divisions were ready to assist state and local law enforcement.

Last week, bomb threats targeted the Jewish Academy of Orlando and Chabad of South Orlando in Central Florida and two Jewish preschools in Tampa.

Further details on Monday's threat were not available.
