TAVARES, Fla. – An 89-year-old man was taken into custody Friday in Lake County on allegations of shooting and killing his 88-year-old companion after making a murder-suicide pact with her.
Tavares police said Carl Lange admitted to shooting and killing Rosemary Getz at a home on Doris Avenue.
Police found Lange after a family member requested a well-being check. Tavares police said Lange admitted to killing his companion of 25 years as part of a pact in which he would also kill himself.
According to police, officers prevented Lange from getting to a gun on a nearby table.
Lange was taken to the Lake County Jail.
No other details were released, and an investigation is ongoing.
