Man crawls through mud while fleeing Walmart fight, police say

Arrest caught on helicopter video

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. – A man who was fleeing a fight at Walmart early Wednesday morning was arrested after a Volusia County helicopter unit spotted him crawling through a muddy ditch, according to Ormond Beach police.

Police said they saw a black truck speeding away as they responded to a call about a fight at the grocery store. The truck continued onto Interstate 95 before crashing into a tree.

Four people got out of the vehicle in an attempt to elude authorities, police said.

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office Air One unit was called to assist in the search. Video from the helicopter, which was recorded around 2 a.m., shows Dustin Arnold, 35, crawling through a muddy ditch before authorities arrested him, police said.

Arnold was one of two people arrested at the scene. Officials are still looking for the truck driver, who will likely be charged with grand theft of a stolen vehicle. It's unclear if the fourth person was arrested.

Police said there were no witnesses or victims in the Walmart fight.

Arnold is charged with accessory after the fact to grand theft. Volusia County jail records show Arnold has faced several theft and drug-related charges in the past few years.
