Man dies in industrial accident at Orlando business

Investigation underway on Chancellor Drive

ORLANDO, Fla. – A man was killed early Wednesday in an industrial accident in Orange County, authorities said.

The fatal accident happened at Taylor Farms, a food product supplier, on Chancellor Drive near Orange Blossom Trail in Orlando.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office said deputies were called to the a California-based business and found a worker in his 30s stuck in heavy machinery. The man, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

The factory has been closed and workers were sent home. It's not known when it will reopen.

The death appears accidental, but an investigation is ongoing, the Sheriff's Office said.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of a Taylor Farms team member from our plant sanitation crew in a tragic accident today at our facility in Orlando, Florida," a company official said in a statement. "Our employees are the heart of this company and we are grieving the loss of one of our own. We have been in constant touch with his family and have offered our full support. Taylor Farms is conducting a full investigation of this tragic accident and is assisting OSHA and local authorities in their investigations.”

No other details have been released.
