Man, dog killed in Orlando house fire

Cause of blaze not known

ORLANDO, Fla. – A man described by firefighters as a hoarder and a dog were killed Thursday morning in an Orlando house fire, officials said.

Orlando police officers first spotted the fire around 5:25 a.m. at a home on Arlington Street near Kittredge Drive, just southwest of Colonial Drive and Orange Blossom Trail.

Fire officials said the house was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived, and firefighters discovered the man's body after extinguishing the blaze.

Details about the victim were not immediately released, but officials said the fact that he was a hoarder made it difficult to battle the fire.

A neighbor said the man lived alone and had several dogs.  One dog died in the fire, one was rescued and two are missing, officials said.

The cause of the fire is not known.
