DELTONA, Fla. – Residents woke up around 5 a.m. on Tuesday to someone pounding on their windows, banging on their doors and yelling, "What do I have to do to get your attention?" all while shooting a rifle into the air.
At least 28 people called 911, and said they heard and saw a man walking down the street with a rifle in hand.
"Somebody was hitting the window, like tried to break it," said Claus Idrogo.
"We saw a dude in camouflage crouch behind the cars over there when they were here earlier, loading a gun and we saw him shooting at the air," said Trenton Brickhouse.
Brickhouse then showed Local 6 a bullet casing that was left in front of his home.
Volusia County deputies said it was 28-year-old Frederick Wenzel who fired at least six shots and then hid until deputies tracked him down.
"There was helicopters with huge lights, right there just shining as if like somebody was on a tree," said Britney Idrogo.
Deputies finally found Wenzel hidden in some bushes behind a home and arrested him. He's facing six counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, carrying a concealed firearm, open carrying of weapons and using a firearm while under the influence of alcohol.
Deputies said he will also have a mental evaluation.
