SANFORD, Fla. – Six days and over 50 miles later, a group of Trayvon Martin supporters reached their destination on Saturday -- his memorial in Sanford.
The "Walk for Dignity" started in Jacksonville and is a response from Southern community organizations to the verdict in the George Zimmerman murder trial.
"We're here because we want Sanford to move forward, we're going to walk around the community engage them, ask them what they want to do so we can move forward in action," said Estefania Galvis.
The group is also demanding the resignation of State Attorney Angela Corey, and the exoneration of Marissa Alexander, the Jacksonville woman who fired a gun into a wall during a domestic dispute with her husband and was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
The group walked through Sanford and passed out flyers, promoting a Walk for Dignity on August 28.
The location of that assembly has not been determined.
