Mother of missing Orlando teen pleads for son's safe return

Bladon Rogers, 14, last seen with family friend Christopher Kemp

An Orlando mother is pleading for her son to come home as the search continues for missing 14-year-old Bladon Rogers.

"There's no feeling that I can tell, there's no word I can tell you to describe how it feels," Bladon's mother Rachel Fancher told News 6. "It's awful, it's absolutely awful."

Fancher is living a parent's worst nightmare. Her son went missing a week and a half ago.

Orlando police say the teen is with 29-year-old Christopher Kemp. Fancher tells News 6 they have known Kemp for a couple of years. She calls him a family friend and a mentor to Bladon, who has Asperger's syndrome.

Fancher says last Monday she let Bladon spend the night with Kemp at his apartment.

"They were working on a school project which was normal that Chris would help him do that," Fancher said. "So I gave him permission to stay cause they were still working on it and Chris was going to drop him off [at school] in the morning.

But Fancher says Bladon didn't go to school and that's when she realized he was missing. She says she has tried calling him, but his phone is off.

"This is completely out of character for him. Bladon keeps in contact with me all the time," she said.

Investigators caught Bladon and Kemp on surveillance video getting on a MegaBus last Tuesday headed to Atlanta. Then two days later they were seen in downtown Orlando. Police wouldn't say where. The two appear to have shaven their heads.

Each clue gives Fancher more hope for her son's safe return.

"It shows me at that point that he was OK, that he was still safe," she said.

Fancher says she couldn't talk about the investigation or why she thinks Bladon went off with Kemp. The concerned mother calling on the community to get keep an eye out for him, keeping hope alive that he will come home.

"I just want him home safe. Everything else is secondary. Anything else can be worked out, if there are issues, whatever the reason behind this it can all be worked out. I just want him home," she said.

Kemp is wanted on charges of interference with child custody and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Police said Kemp has a concealed weapons permit and it is unknown if he has possession of a firearm.
