CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. – A NASA employee, who works at Kennedy Space Center, was arrested on forgery charges on Thursday
38-year-old Candrea Thomas, an employee in the Public Affairs department at the Kennedy Space Center, has been booked into the Brevard County jail, according to Brevard County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies said Thomas faces 5 felony charges . According to NASA investigators Thomas presented NASA with five forged temporary driving permits so she could keep her driving privileges while at work. Her license had been suspended after a DUI conviction in Dec. 2012.
NASA suspended her driving privileges as well. She admitted three of the forgeries to NASA investigators, but they found she submitted two more fake permits.
NASA investigators say over the past year Thomas drove a government vehicle 36 times, some of those while driving media as a media escort, all while her license was suspended.
December's DUI conviction was Thomas' second, records show. She was convicted of DUI back in 2006 in California as well. Her license was also suspended before for not paying traffic tickets.
She posted bond at 2 p.m. on Thursday, records show. If convicted, Thomas could face jailtime and a fine.
