ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – Seminole County Animal Services released new pictures on Friday of the Altamonte Springs home where 117 dogs were rescued.
Officials said the total count for the dogs is up from 116 to 117, and consists of 85 chihuahuas, 9 Maltese, 3 Chihuahua/Maltese mix, 5 Maltese/poodle mix, 7 miniature poodles, 1 standard poodle, 2 Cocker Spaniels, 1 miniature pinscher and 4 Yorkies.
Pictures showed the ground covered in feces. Removing all the dogs and transporting them to the shelter took over eight hours on Thursday. The smell was so bad inside the home, crews had to wear hazmat suits.
None of the dogs were in poor health. The dogs are being monitored at animal control and will be available to adopt in about two weeks, according to officials.
Investigators said the owner will not be charged because the dogs were found alive and well fed. The man is staying with family members as health inspectors check out the home.
SCAS and the SPCA of Central Florida said they will hold a special adoption event Saturday for approximately 65 of the 117 dogs which were seized Thursday.
SCAS is located at 232 Bush Boulevard in Sanford, directly behind the Courthouse on 17/92. Hours for the event will be from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Adoption prices will vary in price depending on the residency of the adopter. SCAS said they will accept cash or check only.
