News 6 to host Zika virus phone bank

Panelists include medical, prenatal care, mosquito control experts

On Sept. 1, there were 576 travel-related Zika infections in the Florida. The first four cases of locally transmitted Zika were confirmed by the Florida Department of Health in August. The confirmation of the locally transmitted virus in Florida begs the following questions: How is it transmitted? What are its effects? And how it can be prevented?

Residents can call into the News 6 hotline at 888-436-6665. The state's Zika information line, which is open 24 hours a day, is 855-622-6735.
