Nurse hurt while helping I-4 crash victims

Woman expected to be OK

WINTER PARK, Fla. – A registered nurse who stopped to help after a four-vehicle crash on Interstate 4 in Orange County was struck and injured.

The crash happened Wednesday night on I-4 near the Fairbanks curve.

The nurse was on her way to work when she stopped to help, her husband said.

"She was checking the girl, doing her blood pressure," the woman's husband said.  "She's a registered nurse, so she was doing all that, she was checking her out and she got hit."

The woman was struck by a car or flying debris and was taken to a hospital.  She's expected to be OK.

The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
