Old Dixie Stampede to be Orlando Premium Outlet expansion

Local attraction torn down

ORLANDO, Fla. – A local attraction is headed for dust, but shoppers will be thrilled at what's coming in its place--a new 100,000-square-foot addition to the Orlando Premium Outlets off I-4 near Disney.

Simon Property Group bought the parcel, where Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede once stood, in October for $16-million, according to Orange County property records. Simon says by the holiday season 2013 a new addition will open its doors on the land.

The addition will be anchored by Saks Fifth Avenue's Off Fifth outlet and include 11 more stores. So far Simon isn't saying which other stores are lined up for the center. It'll also include more parking, an information center and dining options.

Dixie Stampede closed its doors in 2008 and the building's been vacant for years now. It should be completely demolished within the coming weeks.
