ORLANDO, Fla. – A man whose burned body was found along a walking trail at Eagle Nest Park in Orlando has been identified.
Orlando police said Wednesday that Isaiah Hammonds, 18, was found slain on the trail His body was discovered Monday morning.
Police said Hammonds had also been shot, but no other information about his death was known.
A homeowner who lives near the intersection of Messina Avenue and Miramar Road said that at about 2 a.m. she heard at least half a dozen shots.
"I could feel it. I heard, I literally heard the vibration," said Nica, who asked only to be identified by her first name.
Orlando police said that officers responded to the area, but didn't find anything.
About two hours later, Nica said that her husband rode his bike to work and saw a small fire in the grass.
"He literally saw fire, but it wasn't directly in our yard, but it was like behind the fence. So on his way to work, he takes the back trail and he noticed that there was a body on fire," Nica said.
Nica said she called 911, and officers responded.
"I'm thinking about the person that did not make it home. You know, to their family," said Nica.
