OSHA investigates Disney Springs' Cirque du Soleil performer's fall

A Cirque du Soleil La Nouba performer at Disney Springs was injured on Oct. 20 after falling during an aerial rehearsal, according to Reedy Creek Fire Department.

A woman was treated for a fall from a significant height and transported to Osceola Regional Medical Center, Reedy Creek fire officials told News 6.

The call for service at Cirque Du Soleil came in at 10:15 p.m. on Oct. 20.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration confirmed to News 6 they are investigating the incident and cannot comment until their investigation is complete.

"Safety is our number one priority at Cirque du Soleil. At this time we are focusing on the recuperation of our team member," La Nouba said in a statement to News 6 on Friday.

The performer’s condition is unknown and is still receiving medical care, according to Cirque du Soleil.

In June 2013, a Las Vegas Cirque du Soleil performer died after a fall from 94 feet in front of an audience during a performance of the show "Ka," the Wall Street Journal reported. The Journal's investigation revealed the Canadian circus company's "Ka" production has the "highest rates of serious injuries of any workplace in the country.”
