Owners reunited with dog found floating in St. Johns River

Male purebred dachshund scooped up by boaters on river, officials say

ASTOR, Fla. – The dog found floating in the St. John's River has been reunited with his owner.

Animal Services officials said a couple boating on the river saw the dog's nose from the water and scooped him up near the Blackwater Inn Restaurant.

The owners said the dog, whose name is Buddy, frequently goes on boating trips, and usually sleeps downstairs under the cabin. After the family realized he had gone overboard, they began searching for him and eventually saw his photo on social media.

The dog, which officials say is a male purebred dachshund, was brought to the Lake County animal shelter after being rescued over the weekend.
