Palm Coast cardiologist donates $20K to burglarized special needs school

Stolen computers, tablets replaced after break-ins at United Cerebral Palsy charter school

PALM COAST, Fla. – Teachers and students at the United Cerebral Palsy charter school tell Local 6 they were heartbroken when their technology they use for communication was stolen.

But on Friday, they received a $20,000 check from a Palm Coast cardiologist to replace the dozens of computers and tablets stolen by burglars.

Ilene Wilkins at UCP says Dr. Dom Marini has given her students back their voice.

"One of the little boys, that's the only way he can communicate," she said. "The first day, he was walking around with an empty case and couldn't talk to his teachers."

The entire staff at Palm Coast Cardiovascular Institute says they were paying it forward by donating funds for replacements.

"He has a heart of gold," said Monique Tsouklaris of Dr. Marini. "He is very compassionate he cares about people, he cares about his patients."

No arrests have been made in the school burglary, but if you have any information on the culprits, contact Orlando Police Department.
