Planned Parenthood of Central Florida announces transgender services

ORLANDO, Fla. – Planned Parenthood of Southwest and Central Florida will expand their health services to include care for transgender patients who are transitioning at its 11 health centers.

The services will include preventive sexual health care services as well as hormone therapy, STD and cancer screenings and mental health counseling, according to Naples Daily News.

Planned Parenthood will allow patients to receive a written prescription for hormones that can be taken to a pharmacy. It will not provide pharmacy services for hormones. 

Planned Parenthood operates 11 health centers in the region, including one in Kissimmee, one in Lakeland and two in Orlando. 

The new hormone replacement therapy (HRT) services will begin in October.
