Police: 15-year-old fatally shot by 16-year-old in Apopka

APOPKA, Fla. – Police said a 15-year-old girl is dead after a 16-year-old shot and killed her Saturday afternoon in the area of 1008 Sheeler Hills Drive.

The victim was identified as Destiny Bargman.

The 16-year-old suspect, who has not been identified, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.

Apopka police and the Joint Homicide Task Force said the shooting happened around 1:30 p.m. at a home on Sheeler Hills Drive.

"We saw a bunch of cop cars and the house blocked off with yellow tape and we're like, 'Oh my gosh, what is this?'" neighbor Frankie Collazo said.

Neighbor Kyle Byars said he went to Wekiva High School with Bargman and told News 6 the victim was a freshman.

"Last time I saw her was Wednesday. Our bus was pulling out of the school and she was rushing, running with her friend, laughing and giggling like nothing was wrong, and all of a sudden she's gone," Byars said.

Investigators worked all afternoon and late into the night looking over evidence inside and around the home. Authorities also questioned witnesses.

Neighbors told News 6 that a man and several children lived in the home for the past few months. They said they saw them biking and walking around the neighborhood.

Investigators are not saying if the victim and suspect knew each other or if they lived in the home.

Authorities said they are still investigating what led up to the shooting.

Police said they are not searching for any other suspects.
