Police investigating George Zimmerman after Twitter comments

Zimmerman's account tweeted comments, photos of ex-girlfriend

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – Seminole County Sheriff's deputies said they have launched an investigation against George Zimmerman. It began Thursday afternoon, when Zimmerman's social media account tweeted inappropriate comments and photos of an ex-girlfriend.

Friday, authorities told News 6 that back in September, the same woman filed a complaint after receiving harassing text messages. Now, they are looking into whether or not there is a case of harassment following the latest controversial Twitter posts.

"I think what the sheriff's office is looking at is whether there is stalking here and maybe cyber-stalking," said attorney Steven Kramer.

The report said the woman stated she had been dating Zimmerman for a few months, and this all began when she broke up with him several days ago. The report said Zimmerman texted her son, 10, about how his father does not love him and sent horrible messages to the woman, calling her inappropriate names.

The woman showed a deputy the text messages from both her phone and her son's phone. The deputy reported seeing inappropriate comments made to the woman, but nothing threatening.

"On the surface, it looks like it might be a clear-cut case, but here's what we don't know. Was there a gap within this two month period, meaning, were they communicating? The other thing that we don't know is did they maybe get back together? Did they start dating again?" Kramer told News 6.

Back in 2013, another one of Zimmerman's ex-girlfriend's told News 6 exclusively that he started sending her daughter inappropriate photos of Schiebe after she threatened to break up with him. No charges were filed.

"He has a modus operandi. He has a way that he might act when a relationship ends, and that involves these types of messages. It involves bringing in these kids," Kramer said.

The Seminole County Sheriff's Office said they will be releasing a report on the Twitter incident Monday.

News 6 reached out to Don West, Zimmerman's attorney. He said he was not involved.
