Hillary Clinton campaigns in Florida

Candidate selects Tim Kaine as her running mate

ORLANDO, Fla. – Hillary Clinton met with local leaders in Orlando Friday afternoon in a roundtable discussion on the massacre at the Pulse nightclub.

The meeting, which was held at the Holden Heights Community Center, was led by Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer.

"I've been moved by those that have been tested and tried in the face of evil and horror," Clinton said, adding that a stance against gun violence is necessary.

The families of the Pulse shooting survivors were also at the meeting, crying as the discussion focused on the attack.

Before heading to Tampa for a campaign event, Clinton stopped by Pulse nightclub to bring a bouquet of flowers.

They said her running mate is expected to appear with her at a campaign rally Saturday at Florida International University in Miami. It was announced Friday evening that Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine was chosen as Clinton's running mate.

"I'm thrilled to announce my running mate, @TimKaine, a man who's devoted his life to fighting for others. -H," she tweeted.

Her strategists called this a "well-orchestrated weekend" as the Democrats head into their national convention, which begins Monday in Philadelphia.
