Precautionary boil-water notice issued after water main break in Mims

Notice issued for residents living in Carriage Drive area

MIMS, Fla. – A precautionary boil-water notice was issued Thursday evening for Mims residents living in the Carriage Drive area after a water main break.

Officials with the Brevard County Utility Services Department said this includes residents on Carriage Drive, Lantern Court, West Carriage Drive, East Carriage Drive, Lancaster Lane, Devon Court and Candle Court.

It's advised that all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth or washing dishes be boiled as a precaution. Officials said a rolling boil of one minute is sufficient.

Bottled water may be used as an alternative, officials said.

The precautionary boil-water notice will remain in effect until the problem is corrected and a bacteriological survey shows that the water is safe to drink, the department said.
