Purses stolen while women visit grandmother's grave at cemetery

Lake County deputies search for woman in connection with car burglaries

EUSTIS, Fla. – Two purses were stolen from a car Sunday while family members visited their grandmother's grave site at a Eustis cemetery, deputies said.

The theft was reported at Lakeside Memory Garden cemetery.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office said it is seeking the public's help in identifying a woman who they believe broke into at least three cars in the area of Umatilla and Eustis, including the thefts at the cemetery.

Detectives said the woman stole two purses at the cemetery and used one of the victims' credit cards at two Walgreens stores in Eustis, one at the intersection of County Road 44 and State Road 19 and the other at State Road 19 and Ardice Avenue.

The woman purchased three prepaid Visa credit cards in the amount of $300 each at each location and was captured on surveillance video, deputies said.

Two other car burglaries were reported at the North Lake Community Park before the theft at the cemetery, deputies said.

During the earlier incidents, passenger-side windows were smashed and purses and credit cards were stolen, deputies said.

The same woman from the Walgreens security video can also be seen on surveillance video from the Citgo gas station in Umatilla using a credit card stolen from one of the vehicles at the park.

Anyone with information about the identity of the woman in the photos is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 352-343-2101 or Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
