Quaker Oats Co. issues voluntary recall over possible sunflower kernel contamination, FDA says

WASHINGTON – The Quaker Oats Co. issued a second recall of its Quaker Quinoa Granola Bars on Thursday, the Food and Drug Administration said.
The first voluntary recall was issued on May 16 for the company's Quinoa Bars that could be impacted by sunflower kernels from SunOpta, which may have been contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes or L.mono.

Since the first recall, the sunflowers kernels by SunOpta have been tested and a second recall has been issued.
L.mono can cause serious and sometimes fatal infection to children or the elderly with compromised immune systems.
Quaker Quinoa Granola Bars with UPC code 30000 32241 and Best Before Dates before 11/15/16 and Quaker Quinoa Granola Bars Yogurt, Fruit & Nut with UPC 30000 32243 and Best Before Dates before 11/15/16 are affected by the recall.
The FDA is urging consumers to return the products for a full refund or dispose of them.
