ORLANDO, Fla. – Retailers are holding out hope "Super Saturday" turns into a super weekend of shopping in the days leading up to Christmas.
According to the National Retail Federation, only 44 percent of shoppers have completed their holiday shopping. That means more than half need to shop for more gifts in the five days leading up to Christmas.
Many of them flooded Florida Mall in Orlando on Friday, hoping to wrap things up.
Raul Aguillera decided to start and finish in the same day.
"I got a lot of stuff for my brother. I got a couple of things for me, and I got a nice little gift for my mom," he said.
One couple vacationing in Orlando also decided to wait to complete their Christmas shopping.
"If I get it now -- early -- then I will end up giving it to my daughter, so I wait until the day before Christmas," a hurried mother said.
In some parts of the country, shoppers blamed cold weather; not so in Florida.
Many shoppers in Orlando said they waited for the last-minute discounts, which retailers were already starting to advertise on Friday.
With lower than expected sales so far, many retailers, including locally-owned businesses, are hoping Saturday through Tuesday turns out to be a golden time for purchases.
