Video shows man carjacking woman at Walmart in Casselberry

Police continue to search for suspect

CASSELBERRY, Fla. – Newly released surveillance video shows exactly what happened during a carjacking in the Walmart parking lot on Monday.

The victim, who is described as an elderly woman, was putting away groceries and had her car running, when a man jumps in the driver's seat and takes off. She's left standing there helpless. Her phone and purse were in the vehicle.

A witness in the area tried to track down the suspect, but was unsuccessful. Police later found the vehicle abandoned in Winter Park. The keys were still in the ignition, but her purse appeared to be missing.

Through the course of the investigation, it was revealed that the suspect had also gone into the Walmart, and was seen drinking out of a cup before throwing it out. Police have since collected that cup as evidence.

The suspect is still on the run, and has yet to be identified. Anyone with information on who he is or where he might be is asked to call the Casselberry Police Department.
