Shooting victim runs into Orlando restaurant, collapses

Deputies find man lying on floor inside Popeyes on Lee Road

ORLANDO, Fla. – A man who was shot during a fight outside an Orlando apartment complex ran into a nearby restaurant, presumably for help, before he collapsed on the floor, deputies said.

The shooting happened around 9:50 p.m. Thursday outside the Sumerset Apartments on Lee Road near Interstate 4.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office said it received a 911 call about a shooting and deputies discovered a 29-year-old man lying on the floor inside the Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen. Witnesses said that the victim ran into to the restaurant and collapsed before deputies arrived.

Deputies said the victim was believed to have been involved in a physical altercation and was shot. The victim then ran to Popeye’s and the shooter fled the area in a dark-colored vehicle.

The victim was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center and was listed in stable but critical condition.
