Sleeping man shot in Orange County

Deputies investigate shooting on Old Cheney Highway

ORLANDO, Fla. – A man said he was shot while he was sleeping early Tuesday in Orange County, according to deputies.

The shooting was reported around 3:15 a.m. at 5565 Old Cheney Highway in Orlando. A bodega is located nearby, but it's not known where the man was when he was struck.

According to the Orange County Sheriff's Office, the man said he was awakened by the sound of a gunshot and realized that he had been shot.

Deputies said he suffered a non-life-threatening wound. He was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center in stable condition. 

An investigation is ongoing.

No other details, including a description of the shooter, have been released.
