COCOA, Fla. – A 16-year-old boy has been airlifted to the hospital after being shot after leaving a barbershop in Cocoa, police said.

Cocoa police said the boy was shot at the parking lot of the Save-A-Lot plaza on 1208 Dixon Blvd.

Police said the teen, who has not been named, was sitting in the passenger seat with an 18-year-old man, who was backing out of the parking space, when a witness said a light-skinned black male shot into the vehicle. The teen was shot and flown to a trauma center for his injuries but was alert when first responders arrived, police said.

Police said they have made an arrest in the shooting.
