Vandals write 'Satan is my daddy,' expletives on church, car

Oak Hill post office, library also vandalized

OAK HILL, Fla. – When people in the small community of Oak Hill woke up Tuesday morning, they were surprised to find more than a dozen damaged buildings, signs and cars tagged with graffiti.

Pink, purple and neon green messages were written. One said, "Satan is my daddy," another said "Sista's for life."

The vandals wrote expletives on church signs, the post office and the library. They also tagged a 2014 Dodge Journey with pentagrams and sprayed "fat (expletive)" on the back.

The owner, Jody Wheeler, was shocked.

"Just disbelief, just couldn't believe that somebody would do this," Wheeler said.

However, the vandals were caught by afternoon, officials said.

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office said spray paint cans led them to two 15-year-old girls.

When the Wheelers found out who the girls were, they responded with love instead of anger.

"You just have to love them through it. You have to. It's just a family, a community, a church family. It takes everybody," Richard Wheeler said.

The Wheelers may have a couple thousand dollars in damage to their car, but they said they will still reach out to the girls to help them. They say that's what neighbors are supposed to do.

"That's paint, that's things, that's stuff. We're not supposed to make that more important than the lives that's behind the issues," Jody Wheeler said.

The teens were arrested and charged with burglary, criminal mischief and petit theft.
