Teen's screams halt kidnapping in Orlando

Man wearing no shoes drives off through Walmart parking lot

ORLANDO, Fla. – A teenager was nearly kidnapped early Friday morning while she was walking home from a Walmart in Orlando.

Keyla Cange, 18, told Local 6 she was walking from the store on Kirkman Road around 1:20 a.m. when she was grabbed from behind by a man.

Cange said she screamed and the man ran back to his blue sedan and drove off through the Walmart parking lot.

"He just grabbed me, like he was trying to hug me or something and I couldn't even mace him because I was so scared," Cange told Local 6. "I didn't even scream loud because I was just such in shock, nothing like that has ever happened to me before."

She said she went to the store to get something to eat.  Although she was carrying mace, she said she was too scared to use it.

A search of the area failed to locate the man, who was described as 5 feet 7 inches tall and in his early 20s.  He was wearing a black shirt, blue jeans and no socks or shoes.

"At night, a lot of times I see young women walking, walking in front of the store always at night and it always got me worried," said Tony Shuman, who owns a business nearby.

No injuries were reported.

"Stuff happens, that's life," Cange said. "I mean, thank God I'm still alive, thank God I'm still alive."
